Project Introduction

RANGE, AIM, FIRE! (RAF!) was the final major project that I began designing and prototyping while at University. The goal for this project was to design a fun casual tank game that feature semi-realistic tank movement mechanics, and fast-paced gameplay similar to Wii Tanks.

This main menu is a current work in progress but the layout is what I'm currently keen on for this project.

Project Reflection

Overall, solo development of a project is something that takes a lot of effort and motivation; scoping the project to fit your skill set is also something that needs to be thought about ahead of the project. Whilst this project had times when it couldn't move forward as the player controller wasn't working as intended, I prioritized making sure that it worked smoothly, rather than completing the project as a whole with major bugs.

Settings Wireframe

When it comes down to the settings menu for this game, I want to keep it as simple as possible as I want the player to mainly focus on the gameplay itself.

HUD Wireframe

The HUD for the game was always intended to display which of the players' crew are alive, and if a crew member is killed it would disappear, this would act as the player health bar almost, and to be able to have 1 crew member left but would restrict the players' movement and actions heavily. If you were down to 1 crew member you would have to decide between driving or operating the turret.
